This is a very long excursion; but also one of the prettiest and most varied in the book. We follow the entire coast of Palamós along the "camino de ronda" smugglers’ path. We pass through charming coves with their clean, transparent water, unspoiled beaches and small fishing villages that still retain their traditional charm. We then cross the plain to Mont-ras, surrounded by fields of crops and winding rivers. Our route then takes us through the wooded area at Gavarra to the ancient parish of Fitor, radiating peace and tranquillity. On the way back, we marvel at a Roman Villa and the site round about. This excursion is a trip through the history and traditional economy of the district; wandering over its coast, its plain and its wooded mountains. Fishing, arable farming and forest plantations.
